Riding for the cause
I signed up to do the Pedal 4 Possible charity bike ride this September. This ride raises money for current and former patients of Craig Hospital. Craig Hospital is one of the premier brain and spine hospitals in the country and a large number of their patients have varying degrees of paralysis. The money raised by this ride helps them to buy adaptive equipment such as hand-powered bicycles, ski chairs, the kinds of specialized tools that they need to continue to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle offered by Colorado.
This will be my 4th time doing this ride. The first two were in honor of our departed friend Leonard Somers (himself a long time patient of Craig Hospital after a skiing accident left him paralyzed from mid-chest down), while last year's ride and all future rides will be for Leonard and for Patrice and I. Craig Hospital took excellent care of me when I was injured in 2017 and made it possible for me to continue to do this ride. Patrice and I rode it together last year, this year I'm riding with my friend Jon and we're doing the 62 mile route.
I've set a goal of raising $500 for this worthy cause. The entrance fee that I've already paid for covers the expense of putting on the ride, so every dime that is donated goes to the people that benefit from this charity. Please help us reach this goal and make it possible for the beneficiaries to get out and enjoy the outdoors again.
