Help Me Support the PEAK Center!
For the past three years, I have benefited greatly as a member of the PEAK Center at Craig Hospital. At the beginning of this journey I was 40 pounds overweight and extremely out of shape. I had to use my power wheelchair most of the time. A fall, in which I was trapped on the bathroom floor for 12 hours, was the moment that I had to make a change. It was shortly after this that I was referred to the PEAK Center for intensive physical therapy, and since then my life has never been the same. Since that first March day, I have made great strides, gotten in shape, lost the 40 pounds and had the opportunity to work with some amazing trainers along the way! To this day, I am still training and expanding my limits even further. This year's goal: to walk in this, the PEAK Center 5K!
However, I am not just doing this for my own fitness and success. I do this so that so many others with physical disabilities can have the same incredible opportunities that I have. Myself included, it is so easy to feel that health and exercise is not possible when you have a physical disability. Some days, it seems like loosing weight is impossible. Through these scholarships, the impossible becomes possible! I walk to raise money and awareness so that others in my situation can reach their full potential of health and wellness! I would not be where I am today without the services I receive through the PEAK Center! Please join me in giving back to this great program!
