Welcome to my Pedal4Possible page! I'm riding for a reason!
The reason that I ride is to help others find their "possible". Two and a half years ago, I was 40 pounds overweight and my mobility was significantly limited by my Cerebral Palsy. I was out of shape and completely dependent on my power chair. In November of 2013, I fell and was trapped on the bathroom floor for twelve hours. During my recovery in the hospital I realized that I needed to make a change, because I never wanted to be that trapped and alone again. A physical therapist referred me to the PEAK Center at Craig Hospital, and since then, my life has never been the same. Before Craig, I believed that losing weight while in a chair, was not possble. I was told that walking without a walker was impossible. However, thanks to the PTs at the PEAK Center, we set a plan, and week by week, one pound at a time, I have lost 42 pounds! It has been a long road, but over these past few months I have taken my first steps with very little support at all! I am now more active than I have ever been. For the first time in my life, I am regularly "handcycling" in the summer and skiing in the winter. I am actually walking through the world, at distances that I never thought possible! I could not have achieved this, were it not for the outpatient services I received at the PEAK Center at Craig Hospital!
I ride for those with spinal cord injuries, who through Craig, are learning what's possible! I ride for those with Traumatic Brain Injury, who through Craig, are discovering a greater quality of life is possible! Please support me in paying it forward to so many others, who may find themselves in that dark place that I once found myself! Thank you so much for your generousity and support!!
